Invitation to a Mayoral Debate Declined by Marc Doret

Hello, my fellow citizens,

I invited Marc Doret to a public debate on three separate occasions, two informally which he received, but chose not to reply and he has declined my third formal debate request dated October 10, 2025.

A public debate between candidates aspiring to public office, is necessary and customary at all levels of government in Canada. In fact, many public debates have already been held in several municipalities throughout the province. Public debates permit voters to decide for themselves who is the best person that can think quickly on his or her feet, defend and promote their parties’ platforms and answer tough questions in an uncomfortable and demanding environment inherent to public debates.

Furthermore, a public debate is not a divisive event, as Mr. Doret would have you believe in a post with his excuse not to attend, but it is, in fact, a decisive event for voters. The citizens of Dorval deserve a mayor that will present and defend their concerns and rights vigorously in situations of potential adversity by government officials, other organizations and individuals who do not have Dorval’s best interest at heart.

I understand Mr. Doret’s reluctance and perhaps concern to present himself at a public debate against me, however, a candidate for mayor must have the necessary intelligence, integrity and courage of his convictions.
